'FILM NOIR'


The genre ‘filmNoir’ was the first type of thriller that was main streamed  in cinemas because it was around the time and most of film from the time were in black and white.
Film Noir uses Extreme use of Mise-En-scene:
- Lighting
- Costume
- Props
- Characters
- setting
Femme Fatale: this is a French word that is used to describe the standard action in a Film Noir for example 'Femme Fatale' describes a fatal women this is usually set in big American cities like New York. The timing of the film was around after WW2 when the cinemas came to life and people went to see for a night out. The main themes in a Film Noir is Sexual politics and in based around crime.
Expressionist style (Expressionism)
This is the type of style that is used about the main character in this genre because it is typically from around this time the main might be:
- A hero with a past
- usually male
- Middle aged
- Gets drawn in by a problem
- Helpless by sexual resistance
- Dies at the end
