Year 12 Prelim Evaluation

Evaluation
For our year 12 preliminary task we were put into groups of 4 (me, Sam.T, Sam.H and Glen.B) we were told that we had to create a 2 minute thriller scene so we discussed idea in a team and we all came up with a Mexican Cartel chase, with 2 lessons to record it
Over The Shoulder Shot
I thought that we created a good piece of media because we had a questionnaire on our film as the people in our group watched the film they filled it in out of 4 and the results came back and we hit a lot of 3 and 4 which was positive to see. I thought that our clip was smooth and flowed through out. Also I thought that we used a wide range of camera shots in our 2 minute clip.

Pan Across

The reason it was successful was because we had people in the team with experience for example Sam.T has good skills with cameras so he did a very good job recording the performance which was a very important for the team for example he made sure that he took lots of different shots (Extreme close up, Over the shoulder shot and high angle shot. ECT...). Another reason that we did so well was because me, Sam.H and Glen B had all done drama in the past so we knew what to do in the scene and how to give facial expressions which were very important in the shots.
Extreme Close Up

Mid Shot
When we were recording we had some minor issues this is when we had a shot on the stairs where the shot jumps to the man walking away with a pan turning away it would have made the scene a lot smoother. Another problem we had was that we couldn’t fine a room for the interrogation scene but we found one late on so the scene was rushed, we tried in other rooms but the light wasn’t right for the shot.

High Angle Shot
During this task I have learnt lots of new skill for example working with Sam.T I have learnt new camera skills how to uses them correctly, also using the footage that we have recorded I have learnt how to upload the footage onto a ‘Mac’ and be able to use editing tools to add effects to the 2 minute clip. I have learnt important team working skills in media where we worked as a team and listened to each other and what ideas they had to contribute towards the overall idea. During the task I have learnt lots of terminology and useful knowledge about the topic.

When we come to our real recording next time we will make sure that everything is perfect for example we will make sure that we have the best equipment and the best actors in the clip because the quality has to be high or we won’t get as good rating. Also we will make sure that we use a wide range of camera angle to show that we know what we are doing and to make sure the shot work together well and they move smoothly into each other not to confuse the audience.
